Texas Health Resources is a faith-based, nonprofit health care system dedicated to its mission of improving the health of the people in the communities it serves. As such, it maintains a policy to provide care for individuals in need of charity assistance.

In general, patients with family income at or below 200 percent of applicable federal poverty guidelines who lack sufficient funds to pay their bill are eligible for charity care. In addition, patients with significant medical bills and income above 200 percent of applicable federal poverty guidelines may be eligible for charity care. Once eligibility is determined, a charity committee will review the application to determine whether all or a portion of the patient's medical bill will be forgiven.

Patients who are unable to pay for all or a portion of their treatment may apply for charity care. All patients who believe that they may be eligible for charity care are encouraged to apply by completing a charity application.
