Life in North Texas

What are your passions?

Enjoy your passions all year long in North Texas!Travel? The arts? Professional sports? Hunting, fishing and camping?

Whatever they may be, North Texas has the answer.

Travel mavens can reach nearly any point in the United States or around the world with convenient direct flights from world-renowned Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.  Your favorite cites are always within easy reach, as carriers at DFW — the nation's third-busiest airport — offer more than 150 nonstop flights to international and domestic destinations. And, close-in Love Field offers still more flexibility for air travelers right in the heart of Dallas.

Arts lovers can find an embarrassment of riches at respected institutions across the Metroplex, from the Kimbell, Modern, Amon Carter and Sid Richardson museums in Fort Worth to the Nasher Scuplture Center, Science Place, Meadows and Frontiers of Flight museums in Dallas.

Fans of the performing arts can immerse themselves in top-flight offerings from the respective operas and symphonies in Dallas and Fort Worth, the Dallas Summer Musicals, and Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Spectacular venues include the Bass Performance Hall and Casa Manana Theater in Fort Worth, and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and Dallas Center for the Performing Arts in Dallas.

Professional sports franchises in the area include "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys football club, along with the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball team, the Dallas Mavericks NBA Basketball club and the Dallas Stars NHL Hockey team. The Cowboys opened the world's premier multi-use football venue in 2009, the $1.1 billion Cowboys Stadium, just down the street from the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Opened in 2001, the American Airlines Center in Dallas hosts home games for the Mavericks and Stars, along with myriad big-name music and entertainment events each week.

Golf fans in North Texas get an up-close look at the stars of the PGA Tour twice each year. The HP Byron Nelson Championship is contested each spring at the TPC Four Seasons Resort in Irving, with Tour participants then traveling across the Trinity River to face off in the prestigious Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth. The attractive North Texas climate and convenient travel options at DFW Airport have led numerous PGA Tour professionals to make their home in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area.
