Mark C. Lester, M.D., M.B.A., C.P.E., FACS, was named executive vice president and Southeast Zone clinical leader in June 2012.
Prior to that, he worked as interim chief quality officer for Texas Health Resources and vice president and chief quality officer at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
As chief quality officer, Lester worked closely with hospital and physician staff leadership to promote clinical excellence and safety in patient care. He also worked with Texas Health leadership around the system to advance clinical initiatives.
Under his leadership, Texas Health Dallas received a quality care financial reward from the Healthcare Quality Incentive Demonstration and has been named a QUEST Top Performing Hospital.
Prior to joining Texas Health Dallas, Lester served as chief medical officer for St. Mary's of Michigan Health in Saginaw, Mich. He previously practiced as a neurosurgeon at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Allentown, Pa., for more than 20 years.
Lester earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pa. and completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He went on to complete a master's degree in business administration at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
