"Author in the Room"
Brought to you by JAMA and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), with generous support from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, this interactive conference is aimed at closing the gap between research — what is published in the featured JAMA article — and the action of putting the information into your actual practice.

Portal of Geriatric Online Education
The Portal of Geriatric Online Education (POGOe) is a free public repository of a growing collection of geriatric educational materials in various e-learning formats, including lectures, exercises, virtual patients, case-based discussions, simulations, as well as links to other resources. New products are added continuously.

POGOe's mission is to promote geriatric education through the provision and encouragement of free exchange of teaching and assessment materials that support the fields of geriatrics and gerontology.

Hand Hygiene
Health-care associated infections are a threat to patient safety and the most common adverse events resulting from a stay in the hospital. Approximately 5 to 10 percent of hospitalized patients in the developed world acquire such infections, and the burden of disease is even higher in developing countries. Proper use of hand hygiene is a critical to the prevention of these infections, but compliance among health care workers is most often below 40 percent.

Supporting Veteran Health
The AMA is currently working with the administration on its Joining Forces Initiative. This national initiative seeks to mobilize all sectors of society to ensure service members and their families get the opportunities and support they have earned. The purpose of this website is to connect physicians with information, tools and training materials to help assess and treat our nation’s veterans and their families.
