U.S. News & World Report ranked three Texas Health Resources hospitals among the five best in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the top 20 in Texas in its annual 2019-20 Best Hospitals report.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas (No. 3), Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth (No. 4) and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth (tied, No. 5) appeared on the annual rankings, which were released July 30.

Overall, Southwestern Health Resources, the integrated care network formed by UT Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health, had four hospitals among the top five in DFW, including the region’s No. 1 ranked facility, UT Southwestern Medical Center.

UT Southwestern Medical Center

ranked No. 1 in the DFW area and No. 2 in Texas; seven nationally ranked specialties, including neurology & neurosurgery, geriatrics, nephrology, diabetes & endocrinology, urology, cardiology & heart surgery, and ear, nose & throat; rated as high-performing in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart failure and lung cancer surgery.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas

ranked No. 3 in the DFW area and tied for No. 11 in Texas; rated as high-performing in orthopedics specialty and for colon cancer surgery, COPD, heart bypass surgery, heart failure and hip replacement. Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth — ranked No. 4 in the DFW area and tied for No. 15 in Texas; rated as high-performing in AAA repair, colon cancer surgery, COPD and heart failure.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth

tied for No. 5 ranking in the DFW area and tied for No. 17 in Texas; rated as high-performing in COPD, hip replacement and knee replacement.

For the 2019-20 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. In the 16 specialty areas, 165 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
