Train here. This is why.
The Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas Internal Medicine Residency Program is training physicians to practice medicine now and in the future. This program builds upon the commitment to care established by Texas Health Resources, the highest-ranked health system in the U.S. on Fortune’s 2021 100 Best Companies to Work For® list and offers a unique experience for residents. Here’s how:
Established program with proven success. Established in the 1970s, the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Texas Health Dallas offers a broad spectrum of learning, allowing residents to pursue either a subspecialty track, a primary care track or a hospitalist track. Exposure to neurology, dermatology and emergency medicine provides education vital to internal medicine residents, many of whom have had success in obtaining fellowship positions in cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology-oncology, nephrology, endocrinology and other subspecialties. Many faculty members who serve as teaching attendings are subspecialists and provide a unique perspective to the learning process.
Exposure to research. Residents are encouraged and supported in the pursuit of scholarly activity, research and quality improvement. Our residents have published case reports in peer-reviewed journals and some have had opportunities to write book chapters. Residents are encouraged to participate and present a poster and/or case presentation whenever possible, and many have gone on to win awards for their posters and presentations at local ACP chapter meetings.
Community-based hospital setting. Residents and medical students alike benefit from learning from more than 100 full-time and part-time faculty members in the program, which is located in a community-based hospital on one convenient campus. A collaborative and congenial atmosphere is enjoyed by a staff united with a singular Mission. There is an excellent rapport and mutual understanding between house staff and faculty members, who serve as teaching and admitting attendings, and hospital staff are welcoming to residents.
Emphasis on compassionate care. The program educates residents in the value of compassionate care by emphasizing multidisciplinary team-building and incorporating strong spiritual foundations to support residents as they develop themselves outside of the hospital.
The curriculum for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Texas Health Dallas provides residents with comprehensive exposure to all aspects of internal medicine.
