ROCKWALL, Texas — Texas Health Hospital Rockwall was awarded an ‘A’ in the Spring 20200 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade recognizing the hospital’s continued achievement in providing safe, quality health care. The Safety Grade is a letter grade assigned to all general hospitals across the country and updated every six months, assessing how well the hospital prevents medical errors and other harms to patients.
“We have always known our caregivers to be intentional about safety and to be focused on doing the right thing for the patient. Receiving an A Safety Grade, once again, highlights the great work they do”, said Cindy Perrin, Texas Health Rockwall president.
Texas Health Rockwall has been a frequent recipient of the A Safety Grade as far back as 2012. The hospital mission and culture is driven by safety first and their focus on high reliability goes hand in hand with the results of their safety score.
“As the Nation copes with a challenging pandemic, our gratitude extends to hospital leadership and health care workers everywhere for their tremendous dedication,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We hope this ‘A’ helps to thank the people who work and volunteer at Texas Health Rockwall. They are role models in putting patients first, and their service has been extraordinary in our country’s time of need.”
“Recently, the environment surrounding the COVID pandemic saw our caregivers step up to meet new challenges to ensure safety.” Perrin added. “During this unprecedented time, I am reminded of how grateful I am for this impressive lineup of caregivers who bring a unique set of skills, experience, and passion to our hospital. It is that collective set of talent that creates our incredible ability to help and heal, tremendously impacting the lives of our patients and their families that need us most.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
