More than 2,000 babies are born at the hospital each year

DENTON, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton has been named “Best Place to Have a Baby” in Denton County by readers of North Texas Child magazine.

“We’re especially proud of this recognition because it’s based on consumer feedback,” said Jeff Reecer, FACHE, president of Texas Health Denton. “And the feedback from families in the Denton area is that we’re doing a great job. That’s very rewarding and makes us strive for even higher levels of clinical excellence and second-to-none service.”

Each year more than 2,000 families choose to bring their bundles of joy into the world at Texas Health Denton. Last year alone, the hospital delivered 2,079 babies, including 37 sets of twins.

The hospital features family-focused rooms, breast feeding support, childbirth education classes and car seat safety checks. The hospital is also home to a Level III neonatal intensive care unit for low birthweight and premature newborns.

In an effort to provide the latest in amenities and increase capacity to care for the growing Denton-area community, the hospitals is undergoing a $128 million, 160,000-square-foot building expansion project that will include 12 labor and delivery rooms, 30 postpartum and antepartum beds and two dedicated surgical suites for C-sections. The expansion will also add spaces for physical therapy, cardiac rehab, a new breast center and 10 new emergency department beds.

“We constantly evaluate our work and ask ourselves if there’s anything more we can do to better serve young families who come here for their care,” said Dayla Daff, director of women and infants at Texas Health Denton. “In doing that, we’ve been focused both on high-level care along with a comfortable experience.”

Texas Health Hospitals delivered close to 24,000 babies in 2019.

“There’s a reason why more families choose Texas Health to welcome their babies each year than other health system in North Texas,” Daff added. "I think it’s because we’re committed to taking care of each individual family with clinical excellence and compassion.”
