Honor reflects commitment to reliability and safety for patients, employees and physicians

ARLINGTON, Texas —Texas Health is a recipient of the 2023 Human Experience (HX) High Reliability Horizon Award.

Press Ganey Award 2024

Press Ganey works with more than 41,000 healthcare facilities to reduce patient suffering and enhance caregiver resilience.

Press Ganey, a global leader in healthcare experience solutions and services, annually ranks the top hospitals and health systems in the country according to performance in patient experience, employee experience, physician experience, clinical quality performance and consumer experience.

“We are committed to providing a safe, high-quality experience every time one of our employees, medical staff physicians, volunteers, patients and visitors walks through our doors,” said Barclay Berdan, FACHE, CEO, Texas Health Resources. “We’ve made a lot of progress, but we know our work can never be done. Over the next few years, we will continue making significant investments to enhance our safety and security program, focusing on people, processes and technology.”

As a winner of the HX High Reliability Horizon Award, Texas Health is being recognized for placing an uncompromisable value on safety and methodically deploying high reliability organization (HRO) principles to prevent adverse events and optimize outcomes.

Part of this recognition stems from the Behavioral Health service line’s efforts to improve safety and security.

Examples of these efforts include the 2019 adoption of universal screening for suicide for all patients presenting to an emergency department, day surgery and patients admitted to inpatient units; and Words Matter initiative, which helps ensure appropriate language is used to reduce stigma and positively impact the patient experience.

“Consumers count on us to partner with them for a lifetime of health and well-being, and this recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teams and leadership to drive clinical excellence,” said Mary Robinson, Ph.D., R.N., NEA-BC, chief nursing executive. “Texas Health continues to foster an environment where care team members can speak up in the name of safety for consumers and one another.”

Press Ganey works with more than 41,000 healthcare facilities to reduce patient suffering and enhance caregiver resilience to improve the overall safety, quality and experience of care.
