Community investment enhances patient experience, expands access to advanced technology and strengthens women's health services close to home

ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital is celebrating the completion of significant renovations to its Women's Center and Breast Center. The updated, modern spaces are designed to enhance comfort, privacy and access to quality care for women in Arlington and surrounding communities.

Supported by generous philanthropic investments, including a $500,000 grant from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, the project has transformed patient care areas while introducing advanced technology and expanded diagnostic capabilities.

"For nearly 70 years, Texas Health Arlington Memorial has cared for generations of Arlington families, and these renovations reflect our continuing commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the community," said Blake Kretz, FACHE, hospital president.

Recent updates to the second-floor labor and delivery unit at the Women’s Center include a refresh of the lobby, atrium, waiting areas and corridors and new nursing stations.

The project also included renovations to the first-floor lobby and an expanded Obstetric Emergency Department, giving patients a more streamlined experience and access to private suites.

Additional amenities include a coffee bar for patients and families and a complimentary take-home meal for new mothers and their families on the day of discharge.

The Women’s Center renovations build on improvements completed in 2025 to the hospital’s Breast Center, located inside the McRae Building. The Breast Center now features private mammography suites, advanced 3D mammography technology, a dedicated breast biopsy suite and an enhanced bone density testing area, all within a spalike environment.

“These renovations have completely transformed spaces that had faithfully served our community for many years into modern, welcoming environments that better reflect the caliber of care that our patients receive every day at Texas Health Arlington Memorial,” Kretz said.

Philanthropic support helped fund the renovations, raising nearly $1.5 million from lead donors including the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation; Becky and Mike Gerro; Texas Health Arlington Memorial Auxiliary; Chris Carroll, Spring Creek Barbeque; Linda and Dan Dipert; Martha Sue Parr Trust; Tom Cravens, Lisa and Carl Cravens, Mary Tom and Kelly Curnutt, Kyndal and Todd Nicol; Blake and Lori Kretz; and Gary and Rosie Walker.

The Women's and Breast Centers serve thousands of patients annually, providing services ranging from preventive screenings and diagnostic imaging to maternity care and specialized women's health services.

Opened in 1958 as the city’s first hospital, Texas Health Arlington Memorial continues to evolve to meet the needs of one of North Texas’ fastest-growing communities. Designated a Level III Trauma Center, the hospital has a Level III Maternal and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and it is an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and an Advanced Acute Heart Attack Ready Center.
