ARLINGTON, Texas — Six Texas Health hospitals have been recognized with 2025 NCTTRAC Maternal Severe Hypertension Treatment Awards across the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, highlighting their commitment to providing timely, high-quality care for patients experiencing severe hypertension during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

The awards, presented by the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC), recognize the facilities’ success in providing timely care for obstetric patients with severe hypertension by meeting a regional goal of treating at least 80% of patients within one hour of diagnosis. Facilities earn Gold recognition for meeting the goal in all four quarters of the calendar year, Silver recognition for meeting the goal in three quarters, and Bronze recognition for meeting the goal in two quarters.

"Severe hypertension during pregnancy and the postpartum period can lead to serious complications, even death, if left untreated. As high blood pressure during pregnancy continues to rise, rapid identification and treatment are more important than ever,” said Sheila Chhutani, M.D., an OB-GYN and medical director of Texas Health’s Women and Infants Health service line. “We are proud to see these Texas Health facilities recognized for excellence in maternal care and patient safety.”

Maternal severe hypertension is a blood pressure reading of 160/110 mmHg or higher and is considered a medical emergency. Treatment within 60 minutes is critical because it significantly lowers the risk of hemorrhagic stroke and other severe complications.

Silver Award:
