Texas Health Fort Worth provides 3D Mammograms

The Kupferle Breast Center is offering this advanced technology, which gives radiologists the ability to identify and distinguish individual breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue. Breast cancer screening with 3D technology, when combined with a regular digital mammogram, has a 47 percent higher cancer detection rate than performing a regular digital mammogram alone.*

The 3D mammogram screening is performed at the same time as the regular digital mammogram. Just as with a digital mammogram, the technologist will position the patient, compress the breast, and take images. During a 3D mammogram, a series of images are taken at different angles. These images are then used to produce a 3D reconstruction of the breast for the radiologist to examine.

The 3D mammogram fee is in addition to fees charged for a traditional digital mammogram. Both screenings may be covered by insurance. Check with your insurance provider for specific coverage details.
