Birth Certificates
Birth Certificates are automatically requested by the hospital at the time of a baby's birth. The certificate should be mailed to you about two weeks after the birth. To request a copy of a birth certificate, you'll need to contact the government agency in the same county as the birth hospital.
Social Security
Parents may request a Social Security number for their newborn at the time of birth. The Social Security Administration will assign your newborn a number and mail the card directly to you. For additional information regarding Social Security cards, please visit socialsecurity.gov or call 1-800-772-1213.
