NICU Location
The NICU is located on the 3rd floor of the North Building in the Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants at Texas Health Dallas. Convenient parking is available in Lot 1 or Lot 11.

Parent Visitation
Parents are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with their baby and are welcome in the NICU 24 hours a day.

To enter the unit, you’ll need the ID band given at your baby’s birth. For ongoing access, parent badges are available at the main NICU desk for $5.

Can’t be at the bedside? You may call 214-345-2647 anytime for condition updates. Please have your baby’s medical ID number handy when calling.

Sibling Visitation
Siblings are welcome to visit, but for the safety of our patients, each child's health will be quickly screened — including a few brief questions and a temperature check. Please note visiting policies may change during RSV and flu season. Your baby’s nurse will have the latest information.

Additional Visitor Guidelines

  • Visitors are always welcomed when accompanied by a parent, except during nursing shift changes from 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
  • A maximum of two visitors may be present at your baby’s bedside at any one time, along with a parent.
  • Grandparents may visit on their own—outside of shift change hours—but may not bring additional guests.

Parental Involvement in Care
Parents are considered a vital part of the care team. We offer a variety of support services to help involve and empower you, including:

  • One-on-one guidance from board-certified lactation consultants
  • Education and support for kangaroo care (skin-to-skin bonding)
  • Emotional and educational support from our experienced NICU nurses
  • Consultations with neonatologists on the medical staff
  • Post-discharge follow-up and transitional support from a staff-development pediatrician
  • Complimentary "scent cloths" so your baby can feel comforted by your familiar scent when you're away

NICU Family Lounge
Our NICU includes a well-equipped family lounge designed to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. Available amenities include:

  • Computers and Internet access
  • TVs and comfortable seating
  • Washer, dryer, and refrigerator
  • Vending machine
  • Children’s table and chairs
  • Rachel’s Room: a quiet space for reflection or confidential discussions with your baby’s care team

NICU Support Groups
You're not alone on this journey. The Tender Loving Care (TLC) group meets regularly to bring together NICU families for conversation, encouragement, and shared experiences.

Upcoming meetings are posted on the lounge bulletin board, or you can ask your baby’s nurse for more information.

Beads of Bravery
Beads of Bravery is a meaningful program that celebrates your baby’s strength and milestones during their NICU journey.

At admission, your baby receives a string of beads spelling their first name. For each test, treatment, or major event, they earn a new bead to add to the string—symbolizing every courageous step forward.

Beads are available at support group meetings in the family lounge.
