Let us help you gain a better understanding of mental illness, so you can recognize and respond to someone in need and help connect them to the appropriate care.

At Texas Health, our healing hands and caring hearts extend beyond our hospital walls and is the concept behind Mental Health First Aid, an educational workshop designed to help you help others. Nearly one in five U.S. adults live with mental illness.*

Mental Health First Aid is an interactive workshop that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This eight-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care.

What it Covers

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental illness.
  • Common signs and symptoms of substance use.
  • How to interact with a person in crisis.
  • How to connect the person with help.
