Asthma, a chronic, lifelong
disease, affects health and well-being and can prevent
individuals from enjoying activities such as sports, exercise,
shopping and even sleeping. That's why asthma programs in the
Texas Health Resources family of hospitals are designed
specifically to help affected individuals gain the knowledge and
skills needed to help manage asthma symptoms.
Program officials have regularly
participated in community screenings, actively represented it at
area health fairs, and worked closely with schools to help
educate teachers and other school staff members about asthma, all
in an effort to help individuals manage this prevalent disease
that affects the young and old alike.
