Dapo Afolabi, M.D., is president and CEO of Fort Worth Renal Group. He also is medical director of the dialysis unit at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth and serves as the nephrology sub-specialty education coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Texas Health Fort Worth.
Dr. Afolabi earned a medical degree from the University of Ife in Nigeria. He completed his residency and fellowship in Nephrology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, spending the last year as chief renal fellow. He has received advanced training in renal ultrasound, endovascular interventional nephrology and fluoroscopic-guided placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters. Dr. Afolabi is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He was voted Physician of the Year at Texas Health Fort Worth in 2018, received the Shining Star Award from the Fort Worth State of the Community in 2017 and is regularly featured in Fort Worth Magazine’s “Top Doctors” list.
Dr. Afolabi performs multi-center trials on both drug and devices in the dialysis and chronic kidney disease population and has a national reputation for mentoring nephrology fellows who wish to enter private practice.
In his spare time, Dr. Afolabi enjoys medical mission work. He also served as the team physician for the Nigerian Contingent for the 1996 Summer Paralympic Games held in Atlanta.
