Recovery nurses will help manage pain, tend to immediate needs and keep patients comfortable. Once pain is managed and a patient is stable, he or she is provided with a small snack and something to drink.
If medical supplies are needed, they are fitted and supplied by staff. Patient education is given for incision care, diet and activity, restrictions, medical equipment, medications prescribed, and previous medications.
- Follow your surgeon’s instructions and continue any pain medications as prescribed
- Follow-up or physical therapy appointments will be handled through your surgeon’s office
New prescriptions will be given during recovery and may be filled at the pharmacy of your choice. Any refills will be handled through the surgeon’s office.
