- Bio
- Michael Blake Sanders, M.D. founded Structure Orthopaedics in 2011. He was at the forefront in the development of orthopedic trauma practices providing Level I, Level II and Level III trauma care outside of the traditional metropolitan medical center setting. Currently, our practice provides world-class orthopedic trauma and fracture care to a variety of hospitals in North Texas.
Dr. Sanders is Board Certified in orthopedics, with a subspecialty in trauma. He received his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in 2000 and also completed his general orthopedics residency there. In 2006, Dr. Sanders completed an Orthopedic Trauma Traveling Fellowship, which included specialized training at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Hannover Medical Center in Germany and Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand. These fellowships convey a high level of experience and expertise in the specialty of orthopedic trauma surgery.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Sanders spent two years as Medical Director of Orthopaedic Trauma for Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston (a Level I Trauma Center). From 2009 to 2011, he worked with the Orthopaedic Trauma Division of Acute Surgical Care, covering the Medical Center of Plano and Texas Health Presbyterian of Plano. He has lectured at multiple conferences in orthopedics and has been published in select orthopedic journals. Currently, Dr. Sanders serves as the Medical Director of Orthopaedic Trauma and the Chairman of Orthopaedics at Texas Health Presbyterian of Plano. He also serves as the Medical Director of Orthopedic Emergency Services at Texas Health Frisco.
In his downtime, Dr. Sanders and his wife Melonie enjoy spending time with their active young son and two Labrador retrievers. The family also enjoys a variety of outdoor activities — including wakeboarding, snowboarding, hunting and fishing.
