Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth has the city's first Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center. The center is dedicated to providing comprehensive stroke treatment services and educational programs outlining stroke prevention, warning signs, causes and treatment options. Support groups provide emotional support to stroke victims and their families.

As a Primary Stroke Center, the program combines the use of educational materials, health fairs and the stroke education and support groups to enhance the clinical treatment of stroke as well as provide emotional support to stroke victims and their families.

By stressing prevention, defining possible risks, and highlighting the warning signs, the program works to decrease and prevent the onset of a stroke or brain attack and aid in the physical and emotional recovery of a stroke patient and his or her family once an attack occurs.

The Mabee Rehabilitation Center, which is accredited in stroke by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), provides rehabilitaition for patients.
