Leaving the Table Too Soon

You know that your toddler’s appetite is relatively small, but you want to instill good table manners. If that includes having your child remain at the table with the rest of the family during dinner, try not to expect too much.

Toddlers are not able to sit still for more than 10-20 minutes at a time. They're just not developmentally ready for it yet.

So try engaging your conversation to keep him at the table longer, but don’t be too frustrated if he wants to get down and play soon. You can try to have him sit for longer periods each time to develop patience; just know this is a gradual process.
