Extending Breastfeeding Past 1 Year or More

If you are still nursing your baby at his or her first birthday, congratulations! You have achieved a goal recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, to nurse for at least 1 year.

If you and your baby enjoy the closeness and peace of nursing, there’s no reason to stop now. Many mothers and babies all over the world continue nursing up to the second and even the third birthday.

Even if they wish to nurse just once a day at bedtime, busy toddlers love the quiet time a cuddle and nursing with mom provides.
