Tears When You Reconnect

If you leave your baby with a sitter from time to time, he may still be adjusting to being cared for by others.

When you return to pick him up, don’t be surprised if he routinely bursts into tears. He’s not protesting your arrival; rather, he has saved up a day’s worth of emotions for the person who he trusts most: you.

After this bout of crying, researchers say, babies tend to become alert and intently focused on the parent. Try to spend some quiet time with your baby whenever you’re reunited; let him drink his fill of you—and you of him.
