Getting Social

Just as he or she did with pretend play, your growing toddler will begin to open up at playtime with others. Interactive play with peers not only lets a child act out roles, it teaches him or her about compromise and empathy.

Friendships are important to your toddler; they become the learning tools of sharing, taking turns and receiving support and care from someone other than family. Encourage your child to make friends, and help guide his or her behavior in a way that allows for friendship success.
