Signs of Attachment

Despite your toddler’s growing independence, he signals how important you and all of his primary caregivers are to him in many ways. While he may be playing farther away from you, he glances back at you often and uses gestures and words to show you what he’s doing.

Sometimes your child may still follow you if you leave the room. If you’re out of the house altogether, she may seek comfort from a favorite blanket or toy. When you return, she’ll be excited and ask to be picked up right away.

If a stranger approaches, he’ll turn and make eye contact with you to feel more confident.
