Sing to Remember

Making up your own lyrics to songs your child already knows is as much fun as singing well-known songs. It’s also a great way for your toddler to learn new things.

Matching words to rhythms encourages a child’s memory and other cognitive skills, including social skills, expressiveness and vocabulary.

If there’s information you’d like your child to remember (from his address and phone number to the names of your extended family), set it to music and watch how quickly he picks up the song—and the knowledge.
