Too Young for Chores

Assigning chores to children is a great way to help them feel useful while teaching about responsibility.

Children love to help out if they are given an age-appropriate job. For example, a toddler can:

  • put one spoon at each place on the table
  • help put toys away
  • bring the dog’s leash to you when it’s time for a walk

Keep in mind that toddlers cannot be expected to remember to do their jobs without being told (although they may), or to do a perfect job every time.
